eat out elle clay: locanda verde

Friday night, I partook in a celebratory dinner with my old pal JOHN.

SGROPPINO PRIMAVERA this cocktail was AMAZING. Sorbet and prosecco!

Bread was crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy inside with parm and herbs on top.

WARM MUSHROOM SALAD with poached egg and crispy prosciutto:  This was surprisingly tasty. I’m not a fan of oozing yolks, but the yolk was like an extended dressing for the salad. The tiny croutons hiding underneath was also a very nice surprise.

ROASTED BRUSSEL SPROUTS WITH PANCETTA & PECORINO: I mean, the description is enough.

MY GRANDMOTHER’S RAVIOLI: My Grandma didn’t make ravioli, but after tasting this I wish she would have.

WOOD-FIRED PORK CHOP with Yukon gold potatoes, trumpet mushrooms and walnuts: This chop was delicious! I don’t know if they smoked it, but it tasted more like ham than a chop. I had to stop myself from picking up the plate and drinking the jus.

DEAR JOHN

We’ve reached the dessert portion of the evening. Locanda Verde did not disappoint.

CHOCOLATE TORTA with hazelnut gelato & MAPLE BUNDINO cranberry-blood orange conserve, cranberry sorbetto
The BUNDINO didn’t make no kind of sense! (That means, it was really, really good)

VARSITY VARSITY

I decided to paint this illustration of Adrianne Ho after seeing Jake Davis’s test shot video on Hypebeast. Plus, seeing the same Supreme jacket hanging off of Vashtie’s coat rack every time I stepped into the office reminded me that I really needed to finish this piece.

You can always count on a good ol’ varsity jacket to transform any outfit into a classic look!

Hello dear VIOLETTE readers!

I’d like to share a quick piece I sketched on the train after I got done with class today! I dug through my tote bag to only find a red, yellow, green and black sharpie. -__- lol sooooo this is what I made of it while listening to Lana Del Rey’s video games.

INSPIRATION: MOTOR GRRL GARAGE-BROOKLYN, NY

My good friend Houston is in the process of rebuilding his bike, so I decided to make a quick pit stop in BK to check out the progress he’s made so far. Once I got to there, I started snapping random photos of the garage and some of the bikes. A change of scenery was much needed, since I’ve recently been struck with artist’s block.

While the fairy was working, I whipped out my moleskine and started sketching some of the vintage bikes. I have to admit, I really enjoyed the quietness because it allowed me to fall into full relaxation. As an art student, I’m always challenging myself to find new ways to become inspired. Who would’ve known that a garage would bring me so many great ideas.
